Film opening plot Idea

 Today my partner and I finally got an idea of what the plot of our film opening is going to be about.

Idea:

The first shot would be a black screen and then after a few seconds it would reveal the title ( we are still thinking about what our title will be) but in the background you can hear ocean waves, and seagulls. We want people to visualize what the setting is going to look like before the black screen disappears and reveals it. We want viewers to be curious and thinking of what the scene would be.

The opening shot is going to be an older sister and younger sister running in the sand. You can still hear the background. The first shot is going to be on a digital camera to give a visual effect on the sisters having fun. This will also allow the credits to be shown at the bottom during the next shots which will be cutting into different shots of them hanging out at the beach. We will try and use the rule of thirds to better incorporate the credits.

The next scene will take place at their house. It will cut to the older sister in her bathroom looking at herself in the mirror then it cuts to a tracking shot of her walking over to her bed and she starts looking/reminiscing through pictures of her and her sister on the wall. This will include close-ups of the different pictures the older sister is looking through.

The next scene is an over the shoulder shot of the younger sister reaching out to the older sister but her hand is faded or “holy”.Then it cuts to a wide shot of her looking back but no one is there. 

The final shot would be her friend opening her door and asking “What are you doing?” but at the same time the younger sister will be next to her friend also asking “What are you doing?”.

This is a general idea of what we have planned for our film opening. There might be changes along the filming process but this is generally what we will be trying to follow. I will keep the blog updated if any changes are made.

Inspiration:

The inspiration was from a music video that was produced by our TV production student’s called “Wonder” which incorporated vibrant and vivid shots of the beach which we really liked and wanted to do something similar for a part of our film opening.
